ripping it out...sigh

Ok, I just can't stand the dark brown! Seems to dampen the lively colors in this quilt, so off this border comes!! Oh, well, I guess this is the way you learn what you like, right?

Hmm and here I was about to say that I liked it, thought it was warm. What about the redish shade you have in the blocks?

OHHHH I am sorry to hear your ripping it out.
I really do like it.
think you just need to let it grow on you :)

Julie,

The applique is beautiful and I like the border, too. BUT, it's your quilt, so YOU are the one who has to love it, no?

Kathie did bring up a good point. Perhaps you could let it be for a bit (if you haven't already). Sometimes when you let something sit for a bit, it does grow on you...like a fungus, LOL.

I liked the brown.

IMHO .... I thought the brown with the vines looked great. Like real logs with vines growing over them. Oh well .....

You haven't started the ripping have you? Because I agree with the others.

I've read all the comments from this post (already posted to the previous) and I still don't think it adds much Reads so flat! Your applique is just lovely though!

I'm holding up pieces of paper next to the screen to see what might work. A light creamy?

How about a red or blue for the border? Your applique is very pretty. Maybe you can use those borders on another quilt. You'd have a head start on the applique.

Oh my..you are between a rock and a hard place girl!
It doesn't look awful, and might improve with 'sitting'. I'd gamble on that before I took it off. But then I probably would lay about a 1" strip of black or navy or dark red next to the logs, with the brown still on to see if that helped...LOL
I'm terrible at this. I only seem to hit the right combo by auditioning fabrics on the floor by the quilt top.
Love the longhorn steer in the background...*VBS* Hugs, Finn

I think your decision to get rid of the brown is correct.

Lay pieces of some of the other colours in your logs beside the quilt and change them around and see which part comes alive. Better to make the change now than after it's bound and quilted! Good Luck!

do you have any green in there? try using a shade of green and see what it does.
I personally liked the brown as well.

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
